Turning Social Sculpture into Knitwear.
CFCL’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, “Knit-Ware: Sculpture,” by designer Yusuke Takahashi, draws inspiration from the concept of “Social Sculpture” developed by contemporary artist Joseph Beuys, marking 40 years since his death. Viewing clothing as a medium that connects the individual with society, the collection incorporates the effortless draping found in Beuys’s felt works into its forms.
The collection features voluminous, unlined coats crafted from dense knits; a foil-printed dress inspired by the bark of oak trees, referencing Beuys’s seminal work 7000 Oaks; and a special dress adorned with 1,265 individually hand-attached fringes.
