Collection: Maison Margiela
“Broken ceramic shards and beeswax tell the story of an aesthetic of collapse.”
The first 26AW collection under the Glenn Martens regime was presented at a former shipyard in Shanghai, bringing RTW and artisanal together in a single showcase. Inspired by “Paris flea markets after closing time,” the collection transformed the effects of age and decay into a design language through broken ceramic fragments and beeswax coatings. Masked faces accompanied every look, expressing both a reverence for craftsmanship and a sense of anonymity.
