Collection: General Scale Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO

“What Is the Hardest Piece of Clothing to Recycle?”
The answer: shoes.
With uppers, soles, insoles, and large amounts of adhesive, footwear is made from dozens of different materials intricately bonded together, making it one of the most difficult products in apparel to recycle.
General Scale, a project by Yasuhiro Mihara, takes on this very challenge, pursuing 100% biodegradability by starting with one of the hardest products to make sustainable.
From the sole and upper to the stitching thread, every component is carefully crafted from naturally derived materials, creating footwear that combines a vintage-inspired character with an environmentally conscious approach.

【About Brand】
General Scale., launched in 2021, is a footwear brand helmed by designer Yasuhiro Mihara. Its origins trace back to a vintage combat boot he encountered in Italy in 2018, which sparked his desire to create wearable vintage-style shoes. From that vision came a distinctive sole that faithfully recreates the texture of age and wear. Every component—from the sole to the stitching thread—is made from biodegradable materials, reflecting a rigorous commitment to sustainability. The brand name's reference to a "scale" embodies the hope that such eco-conscious practices will one day become a global standard.
